ABOUT ME

I’ve worked as a counselling psychologist and psychotherapist in London since 2008. In addition to running a private practice, I’ve worked for a number of counselling organisations, including four years with Kingston Women’s Centre and three years with Mind.

I am qualified and experienced Chartered Counselling Psychologist and EMDR practitioner. I work as a Highly Specialist Counselling Psychologist in the NHS, with clients with complex and enduring mental health problems.  I seek to provide a safe and confidential support for individuals struggling with a wide range of issues, such as complex trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, personality disorders, bereavement, phobias, BDD, OCD, emotional containment/anger, and more.

My experience in psychology and counselling started in the mid-1980s when I graduated as a clinical psychologist in Sao Paulo, Brazil. I worked for Sao Paulo’s Department of Health as part of a multidisciplinary team implementing mental health services in local municipal health clinics. I also worked in a Psychiatric Hospital, providing psychological treatment for acute patients, alongside my private practice.  After a long career break, which consisted of moving to the USA and then UK, I started in 2005 my UK qualifications. These were attained after a three year bachelor's degree in psychology at Birkbeck, University of London, followed by a five-year postgraduate doctoral programme in Existential and Integrative Counselling Psychology at Regents College. I have also taken further training in Bereavement, Complex Trauma and PTSD, EMDR, Mindfulness, and CBT. I am a qualified clinical supervisor.

I'm committed to stay up-to-date and provide a taylored therapeutic approach, that will best help you reach an understanding of your present difficulties and explore ways of overcoming them. My professional values are based on a humanistic and existential perspective in terms of respecting your individuality, privacy, autonomy, freedom and ability to make your own choices.

Today, I follow an integrative approach to counselling. This gives me the ability to draw from different research-based practices and tailor the therapeutic treatment according to your individual needs, including:
